An unusual happening took place within Clara, Ireland in the farm belonging to Emma and Ronan Lally. The couple was expecting ducklings to hatch but when they checked, they were not able to see the babies yet the discarded egg shells were around. After looking around, they saw their cat Della with a duck in its mouth. They expected the worst and immediately took the duckling away from her. They then realized that she had not hurt the duck since she had gently carried it.
After sometime, 3 birds were seen snuggling under Della’s body. Della had placed a paw over them and was purring around them as a way of protecting them. Coincidentally, Della had also delivered three kittens. That means she had natural maternal instincts and all she was interesting in doing at that time was to show love and care to the little ducklings.
Since ducks grow faster than kittens, they soon became too active and big to be controlled by Della. Though they are big, there are times when they can be seen following Della who at the moment is still nursing her little kittens. Watching this unique and extraordinary adoption is likely to make you smile.

According to seafaring lore, polydactyl cats bring good luck to sailors and their ships. Skatty, a young cat in Auckland, New Zealand, is out to prove that legend true. The polydactyl kitty regularly sets sail with his owner, Paul. J. Thompson, aboard La Chica, the 32-foot craft Thompson built himself.
Thompson is deaf, and although he doesn’t that get in the way of his love for sailing, the surroundings can get dangerous when you can’t hear the motors of other boats or the sound of waves. As Adventure Cats reports, Skatty serves as Thompson’s navigator aboard La Chica, alerting him when other boats are approaching. The cat, whose name means “my darling” in Afrikaans, also helped Thompson earn the distinction of becoming the first deaf person to sail across the Southern Atlantic Ocean alone — except for his trusty feline first mate, of course.
According to the Huffington Post, Maine Coon cats such as Skatty are especially prone to the genetic anomaly that causes polydactylism. While most cats have 18 toes, polydactyls have extra digits that give them larger paws.
This distinction helps polydactyl sea cats maintain stability aboard boats. Some cats also have oversized dew claws that resemble thumbs. Sailors claim that the extra toes make polydactyl cats highly efficient mouse catchers. Like most Maine Coon cats, Skatty is very comfortable around water. On one occasion, Skatty accidentally fell overboard, but he was quickly rescued by his devoted owner. Although the feline can swim, Skatty wears a life vest for added security in turbulent conditions.
Love Meow reports that on dry land, Skatty alerts his owner to incoming text messages by placing a paw on the phone. He also lets Thompson know when visitors ring the doorbell. In addition, Skatty visits patients in hospice care, where he brings a welcome dose of cheer to sick and elderly patients. Skatty is an indispensable shipboard companion, providing affection and practical assistance to his owner as they sail the high seas. Without the alert feline to serve as his ears, Thompson would face additional dangers while sailing. Ready to learn about another cute kitty? This adorable polydactyl has a finger in every pot she stirs.
Most of us are guilty of throwing out any part of a fruit or vegetable that we are kind of unsure of. This isn’t necessarily a bad habit, as you shouldn’t go around eating unknown objects. That being said, you shouldn’t rule something out without knowing its benefits first.
This includes those strings-like things that are attached to the banana. To be honest, I usually throw them out too, I am kind of scared of the unknown. Instead of tossing them, you should actually be eating them.
Although they seem like an unnecessary, bitter part of the banana, they may actually be the best for you.
These weird strings are actually called phloem bundles. Not only are they a fun name, they are packed full of potassium, fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin B6. Phloem is a tissue found in all plants, which is responsible for the transport of nutrients to the fruit to help them grow properly.
The phloem bundles can even tell you when the fruit is ripe enough to eat. If all of the nutrients haven’t been evenly distributed throughout the fruit yet, then the phloem bundles stay on more tightly, meaning the banana is under-ripe.
Phloem bundles aren’t the only part of a banana you shouldn’t be throwing out, that’s right, you can eat the peel too. They are not only edible, they are good for you too.
Just one banana peel contains high amounts of vitamin B6 and B12, as well as magnesium and potassium. It also contains some fiber and protein.
Although you probably would never try a banana peel, it’s not quite as weird as you might think. People in other countries, including India, have been taking advantage of their nutritional benefits for decades.
I don’t blame you for not being eager to chew up a bitter, tough banana peel, because it doesn’t sound that appetizing to me either. If you are a person that hates wasting, you now know that basically every part of the banana is healthy and safe to eat.
So, next time you go to avoid those banana strings, remember how much nutrients you are wasting.
One could argue that the U.S. education system has been in crisis for some time now, consistently scoring lower down on world education rankings than you might expect. But this viral post from a teacher from Texas has highlighted just how desperate the situation is for some teachers, and it’s not just down to a lack of funding.
Julie Marburger, a sixth-grade teacher at Cedar Creek Intermediate School, is at her wits end in the profession that she previously had such a passion for. “It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to have a classroom of my own,” she wrote. “And now my heart is broken to have become so disillusioned in these short two years.” She has already made the decision to quit teaching, and eloquently outlines why in a desperate and passionate post about the shortcomings of parents, administrators and government support.
Her post has resonated with many people, being shared almost 400,000 times over social media and prompting an outpouring of support and sympathy from fellow teachers who are also struggling to cope. Julie believes that teachers are leaving the profession “in droves” and there is a major crisis looming in the education system unless something changes soon.
Parents also need to be a part of the solution. Instead of blaming the teachers for their kid’s failings, Julie thinks that they should perhaps look closer to home. “People absolutely HAVE to stop coddling and enabling their children,” she said. “It’s not fair to society, and more importantly, is not fair to the children to teach them this is okay. It will not serve them towards a successful and happy life.”

Julie Marburger thought teaching was her dream job, but after working as a teacher for two years she’s already had enough
At her wits end, she decided to reveal her struggles in a passionate post that has strongly resonated with people
She also added some photos from her classroom showing the damage children have done in just two days
She also stated that all of the items were purchased by her and not by the school because they have no classroom budget
“I have never heard of a profession where people put so much of their heart and soul into their job, taking time and resources from their home and family, and getting paid such an insultingly measly amount”
“It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to have a classroom of my own”
“Now my heart is broken to have become so disillusioned in these short two years”
“Any passion for this work I once had has been wrung completely out of me”
“THIS HAS TO STOP”
The post went crazy viral, with almost 400,000 shares and many teachers started sharing similar stories
WHAT ARE KIDNEY STONES?
Kidney stones are a solid, crystal-like mineral material that forms within the kidney or urinary tract. Kidney stones are relatively uncommon – occurring in just one of every 20 people worldwide.
Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in the amount of urine produced and/or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine. Relating to the former, dehydration is one of the leading causes of kidney stones.
Kidney stones are notoriously painful. When the stone moves around the ureter – the tube that connects the kidney and bladder – severe pain is often felt in the side and back, below the rib cage. The pain may then radiate to the lower abdomen and groin.
Nearly every kidney stone is passed from the kidney through the ureter and bladder through the urethra. Consuming plenty of fluids facilitates the passage of kidney stones, though most people find it necessary to take some type of prescription medication for pain control.
Other symptoms of kidney stones include: abnormal urine color, bloody urine (in some cases), chills, fever, and nausea.
FOUR INGREDIENTS THAT MAY HELP KIDNEY STONES
To begin with, you will need the following four ingredients:
– 2 cucumbers
– Some mint leaves
– 1 liter of water
– Natural, organic honey
Cucumbers contain multiple B-vitamins, including B1, B5, and B7 (biotin). B vitamins help ease anxiety and buffer some of the damaging effects of stress. Additionally, cucumbers contain plenty of fiber and water – two essential ingredients for healthy digestion.
Mint is a potent anti-inflammatory and also helps promote digestion. It’s also a natural nausea-reliever – and can help ease the stomach of gas and indigestion.
Honey provides relief from inflammation and moderate pain. Similar to cucumbers and mint, honey helps to promote healthy digestion as well. Honey is, of course, an excellent and healthy natural sweetener. It adds a nice flavor to the drink you’re going to prepare.
Water is a must-have ingredient, especially when fighting kidney stones. You should be drinking at least ten 12-ounce glasses of water per day until the stone passes. This recipe calls for a liter, which is approximately 34 ounces. Water helps dissolve the kidney stone and promotes urination – two things critical for kidney stone passage. Plenty of water will help flush out toxins and relieve the pain of kidney stones as well.
On that note, here are the instructions to make this kidney stone-relieving concoction:
– Put all of the ingredients in the blender (do not peel the cucumber.)
– Blend until the mix appears smooth and texturized.
It is recommended that you drink this mix after breakfast. Alternatively, you may serve yourself a glass 30 minutes before each main meal if the stone passage proves slow.
Kidney stone facts
Please keep this information about kidney stones in mind going forward:
– Calcium stones are, by far, the most prevalent type of kidney stones, and are caused by excessive salt intake and metabolic and/or urinary abnormalities.
– Dehydration, diet, family history, and obesity are the four primary risk factors.
– Low fluid intake and overconsuming animal products and/or salty foods increase the risk of developing kidney stones.
– Prevention is the best cure. To prevent a kidney stone from development, stay well hydrated, decrease salt intake, moderate calcium intake, and limit consumption of animal protein.
– Most kidney stones eventually pass through the urinary tract, on their own within 48 hours. Adequate fluid intake is essential to pass the stone within this timeframe.
– Over-the-counter (OTC) pain medications may not be effective against some stones. Injectable anti-inflammatory drugs and narcotics may be prescribed for pain control.
Oscar the Vizsla hates mornings. The video starts with him sleeping peacefully until the alarm goes off. He opens one eye at first, trying to ignore the beeping, but when it becomes apparent that nobody is going to shut the alarm off, he decides to let everybody know how unhappy he is to be waken up!
He starts to whine and moan before progressing to full out howling with the most pitiful look on his face.
Once the alarm is finally shut off, Oscar gives a big yawn, then lays his head back down to drift off to sleep again.
After the first video went viral, Oscar’s parents decided to have him react to that video. He doesn’t like the alarm any better when it emanates from the laptop in front of him, and he howls in stereo with himself until the beeping stops and he can go back to sleep again!
Do you think Oscar the lazy Vizsla is adorable? Be sure to share this video with other people who hate mornings!
Last week, a group of adorable service dogs in training was taken on a field trip they won’t soon forget.
They went to Disneyland.
The dogs are members of Canine Companions for Independence, a California-based nonprofit organization that trains service animals and places them with people who could use their special help.
Right now, these pups are still learning the ropes under the guidance of their caretakers — but it’s not all hard work. In order to improve their very important socialization skills, the group paid a visit to Disneyland on Thursday to explore the grounds and make new friends.
«Disneyland is the perfect place to socialize our puppies to crowds, loud noises, different sights and smells, and different kinds of people,» Kendra Clark, who helped organize the trip, told The Dodo.
Here are some highlights from their day at the park.
«The pups absolutely loved walking around the park,» Clark said. «They posed in photos with their Mickey ears and ate up all the attention they drew from the crowds.»
The dogs even got to enjoy a few rides.
Their trip also included some memorable encounters with the park’s most recognizable faces.
«Seeing how happy they got when they met the characters sure was a treat!» Clark said. «The characters were almost as excited as the dogs were to say hello!»
The pups had a fantastic time on their trip — and they made the day better for other guests as well.
Nicole Brown was among those passing through the park who was delighted to see the future service dogs out and about having fun.
«I have always been a dog person, specifically Labs and golden retrievers. But to see them at Disneyland with Mickey Mouse ears was the cutest thing,» Brown told The Dodo. «You could tell they were so happy to be there. They were loving all of the attention they were getting from both tourists and the Disney characters.»
Brown tweeted about her encounter — and sure enough, it went viral.
It’s fair to say the trip was a success, and in a few months, the group plans to do it again — all for the benefit of dogs who will one day go on to play crucial roles in the lives of people who need them. Getting to spread the word about that is just an added bonus.
«As puppy raisers, part of our job is educating the public about service dogs and Canine Companions’ mission,» Clark said. «So it was really wonderful that the crowds were not only incredibly interested in our service pups in training, but also so respectful of the fact that they were working.»
Though it’s wonderful to see that the dogs had such a great time, too.
Dogs aren’t usually seen as pushovers within the home. They’ll defend their territory to the end, no matter the costs. But when it comes to their feline siblings, they can’t seem to stand on their own two feet when it comes to defending their own beds! Below is a compilation of some of the most hilarious videos of canines trying to claim their beds back, and it doesn’t look like they’re going to be successful.
From barking to tugging on the edges of their beds to get the cats out, nothing seems to work. But in the end, many of these cold pups manage to get their beds back, and a few of them even learn to share their space. Perhaps they can come to a compromise after all.
Take a look at this video!
Because there’s no better way to nap than with someone to snuggle with! Don’t forget to share this post with your friends too!
Getting the cheapest hotel available usually makes sense. You’re just there to sleep, right? But good luck sleeping in these garbage pits without having nightmares. Even if these are the cheapest hotel in town it’s not worth it. It ought to be like haunted mansion rules — if you make it through the night you inherit some dead uncle’s gold or something. That’s the only way I would stay in one of these.
