Woman scoffed at this child’s prayer but his response was priceless

Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace.
As we bowed our heads he said, “God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all!

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!”

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, “Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?”

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said,

“I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.”

“Really?” my son asked.

“Cross my heart,” the man replied.

Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.”

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life.

He picked up his sundae and without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.”

Brilliant! Pass this on using the buttons below.

Two kids are about to undergo surgery. But what they discussed. Oh boy!

Two little kids are in a hospital, lying on gurneys next to each other outside the operating room. They’re the first surgeries of the day.

Jimmy leans over and whispers, “What are you in here for?”

Alec says, “I’m getting my tonsils out, and I’m afraid.”

Jimmy says, “You’ve got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was 4. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream. It’s a breeze.”

Alec, slightly reassured, then asks, “What are you here for?”

Jimmy says, “Circumcision.”

“Whoa!” Alec replies. “Good luck, buddy. I had that done when I was born. … couldn’t walk for a year.”

Boy bullied for cleft lip and different colored eyes: cat turns up on Facebook and changes everything

Being different from everyone else can be a difficult thing, especially when you’re young. At a certain age, simply not looking like the rest of your classmates can unfortunately result in ridicule and bullying.

Madden Humphreys is an ordinary 7-year-old from Oklahoma, USA. The only difference between him and the average boy of his age is the fact that he was born with a cleft palate and two different colored eyes.

Although the palate was operated on at birth, his unusual appearance often resulted in him being bullied at school.

Can't believe these little guys are mine <3 🙂

Gepostet von Christina Humphreys am Samstag, 1. Oktober 2016

Fortunately, Madden is a strong little trooper and didn’t falter in the face of adversity, even though he took the comments to heart.

Madden’s mother, Christian Humphreys, soon joined a Facebook group where parents of children with cleft palates could discuss issues such as how to cope if their children were feeling down or depressed.

One day, something was posted in the group about a cat who had also been born with a cleft palate. That wasn’t the only thing, though. It turned out the cat had also been born with two different colored eyes. The left was blue and the right one was green, just like little Madden.

When Christina saw the picture of the cat, she knew that Madden had to meet his “twin cat”.

The problem was that the cat lived over 150 miles away, and the family didn’t have the money to pay for a trip. It didn’t take long before friends, family and strangers began to band together in a bid to help Christina fulfil her dream for Madden.

In just a few days, they had raised enough money to go to Minnesota and adopt the cat Madden would go on to call Moon.

Right from the off, it was apparent that Madden and Moon shared a special bond.

It’s almost as though they were destined to meet.

Christina wrote on Facebook about the experience:
“We drove from Oklahoma to Minnesota this weekend, to get the kitty Madden has named Moon. We had quite a few incredibly generous, friends and strangers help make the road trip possible, so that we could adopt this sweet fur baby and we are so thankful!

In case you missed it, these handsome boys were both born with cleft lips and complete heterochromia iridum (different colored eyes), and we knew they were destined to be best friends. Funny how a pet can make you feel less alone.”

Moon certainly looks like a cute cat! We hope it’s not long before he’s acclimatised and comfortable playing more often.

It really is amazing that Madden and Moon met one another. Here’s to hoping the pair are happy being companions moving forward.

Baby’s first bath with father leaves everyone surprised

Being a new parent is so exciting. You get to experience this world you’re used to with brand new eyes.

You relish every single one of their first times, hoping to record all your child’s early milestones so that you can one day you can watch them together and reminisce.

My daughter’s first bath felt as special as the first time she walked. The way she surveyed the bath water, and watched the ripples with her big hazel eyes will never fade from my memory.

She still loves water today, and has been a professional lifeguard for a few years now. I can’t help but think that it all started with the first time I held in her the bathtub while I gently rinsed her body.

Although I didn’t get the chance to record my daughter decades ago, one mother did.

She was worried about her baby’s first bathtub experience and how they would react. But one thing is for certain, she’ll never regret recording it…

In the video below, the father cradles his beloved infant. While he’s speaking gently to his baby, both parents notice how their little one is flapping their hands in the water, trying to swim.

Ripples start forming around the child as the baby looks around wide-eyed with excitement.

The little one felt so relaxed that they were about to sleep! Also, how adorable was that sneeze at the end?!

What a beautiful moment between a father and his baby!

How did your children react the first time you gave them a bath?

This chart shows what kitchen chores kids can do based on their age

Making your kids do chores can do more than just keep the house tidy and clean. According to multiple studies, kids who do chores have better relationships with their families and friends, perform better academically, and are more self-sufficient.

That being said, it wouldn’t be wise to try and get your 3-year-old to do all the dishes after a meal.

Picking a chore that is age-appropriate for your child is important, but sometimes it can be difficult figuring out what your kids can handle.

Luckily, our friends over at Happy Healthy Mama came up with a handy chart that breaks down what chores are best for each age.

The chart is based on the Montessori education system, which places an emphasis on fostering age-appropriate independence in kids.

You can start your kids off doing simple chores at ages 2 and 3, and then they can work their way up to more complex and in-depth chores as they get older.

As you can see, setting the table could be an appropriate task for a 3-year-old, whereas hand-washing larger dishes is a chore better left to an 8- or 9-year-old child.

While a 4-year-old may be able to help put away groceries, simple food prep is probably easiest a couple years later, around age 6 or 7.

By ages 10 and 11, it wouldn’t be out of the question to expect a child to prepare a simple meal. And, perhaps surprisingly, a 12- or 13-year-old is likely capable of tackling an entire meal on his or her own.

(Of course, it should be noted that these are just averages. You know your own child, and can best assess what he or she is capable of. This chart can simply help provide a helpful baseline.)

Check out the chart below for some helpful guidance about what your kids can do around the house.

Dad Films adorable toddler after run-in with purple marker. Her excuse will leave you in stitches

Pablo Picasso had his blue period. Hailey Hummel, it seems, is in a purple stage.

But while Picasso made his paintings on canvas, Hailey decided to place her work in a more readily available spot. The small child created her work on her body.

The results? Arms covered in purple marker up to well above her elbows, and a face also smeared with purple marker.

Gepostet von Sara Walker Hummel am Sonntag, 8. Oktober 2017

The arm work is reminiscent of silk gloves one might wear with an elegant evening gown. The face? Well, that’s a little harder to interpret.

“Were you trying to look like Barney?” Dad asked her in a video that has now gone viral. “No,” Hailey replied.

It is a reasonable question. Others have suggested that she is now “The Purple People Eater” from the well-known song.

Rod Hummel was taking care of his three kids: Hailey, Jake, and Ethan. He set up Hailey and Jake with paper and pencil to draw while he helped Ethan with his homework.

“I thought I had confiscated all of the markers,” he later said on Facebook. “I was wrong.”

Soon Dad discovered what Hailey had really been doing with her drawing time. He calmly questioned the adorable girl as she stood before him in a pink tank top with blonde curls framing her large eyes and marked up face.

Why did she do it, he wondered. “Mommy said I could color my own body,” she responded.

That answer got a laugh out of Dad, and others are also in stitches. “Mommy got thrown under the bus once again!” her mother, Sara Walker Hummel, joked on Facebook.

Many are applauding Dad’s reaction of laughter rather than anger. “I love this,” one woman commented on Facebook. “Good to see a parent just letting his daughter be purple.”

It took Dad an hour of scrubbing to get the purple marker mostly off of the young girl; there is still a faint purple hue on her face. In a photo Dad posted on Facebook, we see Hailey’s back as she sits in a large soaker tub filled with sudsy purple water.

Hailey may not realize it now, but this story will be with her for life. As one woman commented on Dad’s Facebook page, “From now on, I shall call this baby Violet.”

Little girl sings to her pit bull (and melts even the coldest hearts)

Children benefit in a number of ways from having pets as part of the family — companionship, lessons about responsibility, compassion, and endearing love. But beyond the pragmatic, some youngsters develop especially close bonds with their pets.

Whether they’re building sandcastles on the beach, playing hide-and-go-seek in the backyard, or just lazing away on the porch at sunset, kids and their pets are bonded for life. Six-year-old Scarlett and her family’s pit bull, Lebowski, have exactly that kind of relationship. They could be swimming or out on a hike, baking chocolate chip cookies or doing absolutely nothing — the only thing that matters is that they’re together.

Wanting to share their bond with the world, Scarlett decided to sing “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” to her best buddy.

Clearly, the song connected with people who watched the video on Facebook. Since being shared by The Dodo, it’s been viewed more than 9 million times! Check out the adorable, heartwarming lyrics below.

You’ve got troubles
I’ve got ‘em too
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you

Some other folks might be
A little smarter than I am
Big and strong, too

But none of them will ever
Love you the way I do
It’s me and you boy

And as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You’re gonna see it’s our destiny

You’ve got a friend in me
Yeah, you’ve got a friend in me
Yeah, you’ve got a friend in me

Don’t you miss those early years when you were completely uninhibited? So silly, and free, and delightfully weird. The world hadn’t tried to put you in a box yet, so you could let your imagination run wild and try new things with ease. That’s why kids are so funny. They’re operating on a wavelength we don’t even really remember. All we get are little glimpses into it through them. So, lets take a trip down memory lane and watch these hilarious kids being themselves.

Boxer has baby and mom cracking up with his performance, the belly laughs are epic

Everyone will agree that there is nothing better than seeing your little baby and your dog getting along so well. The tot and the family boxer are down the path for an everlasting friendship and they look so adorable together!

This 5-month baby has a very unusual best friend that adores her. The parents say that the dog stays with their baby all the time and protects her. There are times when she is unhappy and she is crying, so when that happens, the dog named Prince is always there to cheer her up! They even said that he tried to give his own food in order to please the young lady. What a gentleman!

Footage occurred on January 31, 2018 in Nykil, Sweden and was filmed by baby’s mother, and features the big and energetic pooch that can be seen with a toy in his mouth waiting for his little friend to play with him. All that jumping and prancing seems to be so funny to the young toddler, so she laughs in her baby bouncer. You can see by the reaction she has, the baby girl loves her dog so much! Her laughter is pure music to our ears!

The mother said: ‘My boxer Prince loves our 5-month-old baby. He protects her and is faithful to her in all situations. He even tries to give her his food, and if she cries he tries to comfort her as well.’

This video is guaranteed to make your day!

Boy adopts cat with same rare genetic conditions as him

Do you believe in soulmates? After you read this story – you just might.
A young boy named Madden was born with both a cleft-lip and a complete heterochromia iridum.

“Heterochromia iridum is when a part of the iris has at least two colors. Complete heterochromia iridum, where the eyes are completely different colors all together, is quite rare, existing in less than 1% of the population, I’m told. That plus the cleft lips is exceptionally rare,” Christina Humphreys, Madden’s mom told Love What Matters.

Madden’s conditions left him with unique features that many kids at school teased him about. He had no idea that he was about to meet a cat that would change everything.
“Last week, a friend posted an image of the cat in our cleft moms group. This kitty was taken in by a rescue group in Minnesota. We knew immediately that this kitty was meant to be part of our family,” Christina wrote.

How were Christina and Madden so sure that this kitty was meant to be theirs? Because he also was born with a cleft lip and heterochromia iridum. The odds of these two ever meeting up have got to be nearly impossible.

“They were destined to be best friends.”
The Oklahoma family received help from friends and family to fund Madden and Christina’s drive all the way to the cat’s home in Minnesota. They were willing to go the distance to adopt such a perfect companion.

“We’re usually not spontaneous people, but we knew that we were meant to love this kitty. Moon, the kitty, and Madden are the perfect companions for each other,” she continued.

Christina is absolutely certain that it is fate that brought Madden and Moon together.
The loving mom says that there’s no other explanation than fate as to what brought these two together. They were so far from one another, their conditions were so rare, and the timing of it all was just so serendipitous.

“I’m amazed that we found out about him, and even more amazed by the friends and strangers that helped us get to him, and adopt him. Everyone needs a friend, and everyone needs to feel understood. I’m so thankful Madden has Moon,” Christina said.

Since Madden and Moon found one another – the internet has completely fallen in love with them and their incredible story.

“I had no intention of our family getting attention from this at all, but if anything does get attention, I truly hope it benefits kids with cleft lips, if only to raise awareness.”

This isn’t Madden’s first time being in the spotlight. He once starred in a video about anti-bullying letting people know that being a “poophead” to someone is cool or nice to do.

Meet Madden.Madden is an Owasso seven year old who was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. To date, he has undergone a total of six surgeries, and has many more to go.Madden is usually spunky, outgoing, friendly, kind, and fun! Unfortunately, he had a bully on the school bus this year that started affecting how he felt about himself. When his parents found out, they worked to help change his perception on bullies. Now that he’s back to his normal spunky self, he’s eager for everyone to know that he’s special. He wants to remind the world that being a “poophead” to someone really isn’t cool, as he shows you in his video…….Then, if you feel like it, share his message with others.

“There were a few kids saying really ugly, mean things to him. It really broke his spirit and he had a rough year,” Christina said.

Now that Madden has Moon, he realizes just how special they really are – he now knows that what they have is wonderous and magical.

We drove from Oklahoma to Minnesota this weekend, to get the kitty Madden has named Moon. We had quite a few incredibly…
